How It Works
1) Set Up Your Profile
Become part of the Rented community! Add a photo, location, and description about yourself. Your photo must show your full face, no filters please (even though they are super cute). Also make sure to verify your identity to make sure potential renters feel safe renting to and from you.
2) Lend Your Wardrobe
Lend out your wardrobe to others and make some extra income. Create an item listing within minutes with our easy in-app camera and video feature. Try taking a photo of yourself wearing the item instead of a flat lay, and get some close-ups to show those super small details. You have full control over pricing, rental periods and any discounts you would like to offer. Products listed must be worth a retail price of at least over £50. Aligning with consumer values, Rented will not accept any product listings with animal-based fur trims unless they are vintage. Read our guide on listing items here.
3) Rent From Others
Explore a wide range of fashion offerings from your peer’s diverse wardrobes. Discuss with the lender how you would like to exchange the item and the purpose for renting. Also make sure to ask any question regarding material, sizing, and fit. Keep all communication through our in application messenger to ensure Rented Protection.
4) Recieve Payment
Lenders will receive payment once the rental check out process is complete. If something went wrong with the payment or a refund is needed, contact us on help@rented.com, by telephone, or via our live chat. All disputes are handled on a case by case basis.
5) Sustainably Renting
Meet-in-person at a public location to pick up and return your rented item or pick up your rented item at one of your local Rented pickup locations. Rented recommends these first two options whenever possible as it is the most sustainable choice!

If you do end up using a postal service method or bicycle courier to lend out your items, make sure to use our free 100% compostable poly mailer bags, stickers, paper tapes, and tissue paper made in collaboration with our partner Noissue. Just shoot us an email to request shipping materials!

The lender will charge a flat fee and should send the item via Royal Mail tracked. By requesting postage shipping, you will also need to return the mail at your own cost, unless agreed otherwise with the lender.
6) Cleaning & Repairs
Rented users are fully responsible for the cleaning of items prior to lending. Read our guide on eco-friendly clothing cleaning and repairs here. If the item needs a particular type of cleaning such as dry cleaning, a cleaning fee will be added to the total rental cost by the lender. You do not need to an item clean an item before returning it, but if you would like to ensure you speak with the lender for consent and correct garment care.

7) Rate & Review Lenders
After your rental is complete and the item has been returned, make sure to show some love to your lender by leaving them a rating a review of your experience renting with them. By leaving a review, you are helping build trust and confidence in the Rented community.
8) Share Your Experience
Make sure to also review the Rented application on the App Store and Google Play of your rental and experience in using the Rented service. We want to see those Insta pics! Share your experience on social media and tag our profile @rented and use our hashtag #rentedreasons to ensure we see your posts and show you some love!
9) Damage, Loss or Returns
Rented will resolve all conflicts between lenders and renters and reimburse lenders of damage or loss on a case-by-case basis. To begin a dispute process contact us on help@rented.com, by telephone, or via our live chat. Users must include all evidence such as in-application messages, receipts and details in your claim to have Rented Protection.
